Welcome to another great week here on Flashback Alternatives!

The website continues to take shape, with some very important changes made over the past week:

  • Almost all of the site is now accessible without registration/logging in!  You can now make requests, access the videos, and basically do everything else on the site except  visit the Forums and Chat.  For those areas you will still need to register if you do not already have an account or login if you do.  This was done in order to generate more site traffic, and to hopefully keep people on the site longer.
  • As a result of this change, we will be keeping (at least for now) our current registration system - which means visitors who had accounts on the old site will not be able to change their passwords on the new site.  This is a bug which is being worked on by the vendor.  Visitors who registered for the first time on the new site are not affected, and can change their password via the Profile menu item once logged in.

We added a bunch of new tracks (over 450!) over the weekend, including tracks from Machine Made Pleasure and the Flexipop Series.  Since the Flexipop Series is very similar to the New Wave Complex series, which is the current AoTM, the Flexipop series was added to the AoTM.

What plays on Flashback Alternatives each day can be controlled by you, the listener!  You can request any track from our vast library (approaching 28,000 tracks!) using any one of our two request system.  Requests generally play one to two hours after the request is made (all requests are delayed one hour for legal reasons).

We are starting to add some banner advertisements to the website.  Currently there is a banner ad area on the top of the website.  We will be adding a few more banner areas as a way to generate some additional income for the station.  Listener Contributions are on pace for the month, but historically contributions tail off after the first week as the majority of the first week contributions are from those with monthly contribution subscriptions.  Flashback Alternatives does need your support, and all it takes is a $2 contribution each month from each listener!

Be sure to check out the other areas of the site - including the Show area which has a show schedule, and information on each show.  If you listen to a show, please be sure to e-mail the DJ and let him/her know that you listen!  All FA DJ's do their shows on a voluteneer basis, and would love to hear from you!

And just a reminder - We've Moved! - Well, not exactly.  Our mailing address has changed.   The Flashback Alternatives 'suite' (actually a Box at the local UPS Store) is coming up for renewal, so in order to save some money for the station, we have switched to a local USPS PO Box.  There really isn't going to be much difference - I still have 24x7 access, and the box is actually a bit larger, so CD's can fit inside.  The only downside is that I can no longer receive any UPS, FedEx, DHL, etc. packages to the address.  Everything has to be sent USPS (or via your countries Postal System).   The new address is below:

Edward Fishman
Flashback Alternatives
PO Box 4270
Middletown, NJ 07748

There is still much more to come here on FA - so stay tuned, and check the site often!

As always, thanks for listening to Flashback Alternatives!
